Search Tips and Tricks from EBSCO Training Session
April 6, 2011–Pamela Erickson, Implementation Specialist for EBSCO Publishing conducted a free hands-on training session for us at Farmingdale State College, Greenley Library. Participants received a first-hand, in-dept look at EBSCO’s Alt HealthWatch database exploring the interface, basic and advanced search techniques and much more.

EBSCOhost 2.0 Revealed

On July 29th, Nancy Grimaldi and Jim Kropelin from EBSCO provided a first hand look at the newly released EBSCOhost 2.0 Interface with a live demo session. The biggest change is the look and feel (layout), which as Jim described, has become Google-ized and way more customizable.
With the new EBSCOhost 2.0 Interface you can:
- Drag and drop articles into folders and quickly view them without having to click on a link to the specific item using Visual Search.
- Enable Image Quick View in your Preferences, which digs deep for available images from inside the articles, including charts, photos, maps and illustrations.
- Create a search box widget for your library’s webpage, which can be customized to search specific databases, full-text and more. Here’s an example (click on icon to link to directions on how to create the widget):
